The City of Preston has not had a Symphony Orchestra for a long time, if ever. We felt this needed to change. We currently have around 60 musicians who have expressed an interest in playing in the orchestra. A "Meet, Greet & Play" session was organised in November 2023, where we all enjoyed making music together. We are looking for start-up funds to finance the hire of the rehearsal hall, publicity and printing costs, the creation of a website and other associated items that may be needed in future.

What we'll deliver:

• A Symphony Orchestra for the City of Preston
• Perform at least two concerts per year initially
• Provide a place for amateur musicians to enjoy playing their instruments

Why it's a great idea:

We aim to bring classical and other types of orchestral music to the people of Preston and the surrounding areas. We want to grow the orchestra so we will be able to provide an opportunity for musicians to meet and play beautiful music together. We aim to be accepting of everyone in the hope that playing an instrument will help a person's mental and physical well-being. Playing and listening to music is a fantastic way in which to help people feel supported and encouraged within a group.
