The Boaty Theatre Company has been producing live outdoor performances since 2013, formally at the National Waterways Museum and most recently taking up residence for one week over the summer at Bridge Wellness Gardens. In February 2019 we moved into a high street property on Whitby Road, "the old job centre". Whilst being a hive of activity and creativity on the inside of the building, the outside looks tired and drab. It is our aim to create a space outside of the building that we can use as a performance space for small-scale music and theatrical performances and create a mindful wellness garden for use by our beneficiaries and the wider public when it is not in use as a performance space. The Boaty have joined in with the Ellesmere Port In Bloom team to help make our area of the town more welcoming as ours is one of the first buildings people see when leaving the bus station.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
In recent years there have been major regeneration works conducted in the town with the building of the new Council hub and the new bus station. We believe that by renovating the outside of the building we will be able to increase our footfall and increase the curb appeal of the surrounding area. Making the outside of the building look more inviting and less like an abandoned building and more like a place that people would like to meet, join in the activities and attend events and performances. Strengthening links with our local community and building a safe environment for people to meet and be proud of.
