The idea
OpenSky Dance is planned for launch at Chiswick Common, located in West London.
The main aspect of the project is the regular coming together of members of all sections of the community at a central outdoor location to achieve the following:
* Physical activity, primarily dance to music on Silent Disco equipment
* Enjoying the outdoors
* Having fun in an easy-going manner
* Following a healthy lifestyle including consumption of healthy drinks etc.
* Meeting other community members
What we'll deliver
- Improving the area surrounding the venue on Chiswick Common
Why it's a great idea
This is a unique concept combining various elements, aimed at helping our communities by:
* Promoting a 'non-regimental' physical activity among all ages and sections of the community
* Benefiting from the open-air while performing the activity without pressure to achieve high levels of 'fitness'
* A daily focal point where a positive and fun lifestyle is enjoyed, including (silent disco) music & dance plus consumption of healthy drinks etc.
* Encouraging social cohesion, familiarity and friendship among diverse parts of the community (by age, background, etc.)
* Improving the area around the focal point at Chiswick Back Common, which has had safety issues in the past
We urge you to support OpenSky Dance and be part of it!
Steps to get it done
- Creation of the physical focal point for delivering Dance & Refreshments at Chiswick Common
- Attracting participants in sufficient numbers on a daily (15) or weekly (102) basis
OpenSky Dance is a revolutionary concept which grew out of its founder's experiences over decades living in London and visiting other parts of the world.
The sedentary lifestyle which is the result of today's economy is extremely difficult for most sections of society to escape. We know that 20 minutes of exercise a day, combined with healthy eating and drinking can bring so much benefit to all. However, these 20 minutes need to be fun. So, how do you ensure this is the case? Music, the outdoors, and interaction with other members of the community can provide the missing pieces.
Although gyms can sometimes provide SOME of the elements, a) they are not accessible to all, and b) the regimental and/or indoor aspects of gyms put many people off.
As a thank you, anyone pledging over £5 will receive an e-voucher entitling them to a 20-minute session with the Silent Disco headsets.
