The idea
This initiative aims to provide members of the West Sussex Youth Orchestra, who are based at The College of Richard Collyer in Horsham, with 100 chairs that have been specifically designed with the performance, comfort and well-being of the musician in mind. These musicians' chairs will provide optimal support and flexibility, whilst promoting easier breathing and freedom of movement.
£200 will purchase a chair and it is hoped that some donors may wish to fund more than one; perhaps an entire section of the orchestra! Donors can also have a plaque for the chair with their name on it.
What we'll deliver
- Provide 100 rehearsal chairs to be used by four orchestras in Horsham
- Build a legacy of support by adding individual plaques of donors to each chair
- Promote health and well being through good posture thus improving musicality
Why it's a great idea
The chairs will be used not only by West Sussex Youth Orchestra, and other Horsham Music Centre ensembles, but also by Horsham Symphony Orchestra and the National Children’s Orchestra, both of which are also now based at Horsham Music Centre. Chairs can be bought by individuals, businesses or collectively by groups of donors.
Steps to get it done
- Our first rehearsal with all 100 chairs and our young musicians.
We know our young musicians are one of the best kept secrets in Sussex and we want more people to hear how amazing they are. In supporting our Musical Chairs campaign you will be "Changing Lives through Music"
