The idea
As an organisation with lived experience we know that mental and financial health go hand in hand. We would like to launch our 10 week project targeted improving financial literacy and overall wellbeing of moms in Walsall, particularly those already experiencing mental and financial barriers. The project would provide a supportive space in person and online.
Each session will have a fun activity, such as, dancing, journaling, bring and share and more that allows the women to relax whilst learning about financial and mental health.
The women will also become a network of support for each other throughout the 10 week program and build connections that last beyond the program. We aim to create a safe, supportive environment of empowerment and education so that women feel equipped to manage their own finances, gain employment or start their own business ventures.
At the end of the program each woman will graduate and receive a certificate as evidence of her success.
What we'll deliver
- At least 10 women to sign up for the program
- Recruit 2 volunteers to support program delivery
- Room Hire at Walsall College Hub
- Room Hire at The Table Cafe in Walsall
- Deliver 5 financial literacy sessions
- Deliver 5 physical and mental wellbeing sessions
Why it's a great idea
The project will be a mom's group for women in the local area of Walsall . We sent out questionnaire's to our clients who live in Walsall and 100% said they would like to attend a mom's group that provided information as well as space to talk informally. Each session will have activities with a focus on improving financial literacy and overall wellbeing.
It will get more mom's out of their homes and visiting local places they may not have entered before. The workshop leaders live and work in Walsall so the project will be promoting local talent that Walsall is full of.
Steps to get it done
- Creating the content for the 10 week course program based on the survey we conducted

We will use the Arboretum park to do a Socafit session that is a fun fusion with carnival dance and traditional exercise. We have done this as a one-off event before and our clients gave feedback about how much they loved it and wanting to do it again.
