The idea
We are excited to have finalised a plan to purchase and install a brand new bike storage shelter at Moore Buildings, in the heart of Mayfair and Belgravia.
This will not only provide storage for existing cyclists in the neighbourhood but hopefully encourage others to start cycling either for leisure and/or work. It will help to keep our community tidy, with designated storage space an also encourage more people to consider moving to a greener mode of transport - cycling :)
During COVID more and more people have been cycling as a safer option away from public transport, but we are keen to ensure cycling becomes a welcoming option for all to keep traffic down, improve air quality and help the environment.
What we'll deliver
- New secure bike storage shelter.
Why it's a great idea
There are currently no secure bike storage facilities.
Get people active (and London is a great place to see by bike).
Reduce congestion and reduce pollution.
As a result of Covid and the emphasise on using public transport less, especially during peak times, owning a bike is a perfect way to help the fight against the spread of Covid-19.
It's a great way to get and stay fit.
The bike storage will make owning and keeping a bike easier, more convenient and secure.
Residents of all ages can ride a bike as life has change priorities about transport uses.
Promoting bike lanes are becoming another priority to encourage bike riders.
Steps to get it done
- Purchase bike rack and install at Moore Buildings Yard
As there are no existing secure bike storage, bikes are being left chained to lamp-posts, gates, communal areas of flats - bikes have been taking to the roof and inside flats which means to carry them floors up and down or wherever people can find a space to leave their bike (securely).
