The idea
Due to covid people are spending more time reading in their homes. Creating a mini pop-up library where members of the public can safely share books they have read is a great way for people to still feel connected to their community at this time.
A local shop on the high street has allowed us to mount the pop-up library on their property. The shop is also beside the square meaning people can hopefully read on their lunch break.
This is an initial trail for 3 months, after which we might look to creating a bib more permanent library-of-things where the community can share a greater variety of things and equipment.
What we'll deliver
- A mini weather protected library for 3 month trial
Why it's a great idea
This mini library will help reduce waste, save people money, encourage people to read and also create a greater sense of community.
Steps to get it done
- November - Raise the funding
- Install the pop-up by December
- December to February - let the public know and encourage the swapping of books
