Help us provide tailored resources, counselling, and support to those struggling with mental health during this key 6 week period around Christmas.
Christmas is a hard time for a lot of people and we have never needed your support more than we do right now. This mental health project will provide key support over this key 6 week period. Christmas is often depicted in media as a time of joy, family reunions, and heart-warming moments. Streets glitter with lights, homes are adorned with decorations and joyful carols can be heard in every corner. However, for many, the holiday season can bring forth feelings of loneliness, sadness, and increased stress. With the mounting pressures of societal expectations, personal memories, and financial burdens, this time of year can exacerbate mental health challenges. This underscores the urgent need for collective empathy and support, now more than ever.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This project will help support individuals struggling with mental health, especially during trying times such as the Christmas season. Benefits for the individual include: 1. Alleviation of Symptoms: Timely and adequate support can help reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders. 2. Improved Well-being: Emotional support fosters a sense of belonging, reduces feelings of isolation, and boosts overall mood and happiness. 3. Empowerment: Offering resources and counseling can empower individuals to manage their mental health more effectively, improving their self-efficacy and coping mechanisms. 4. Prevention: Early intervention and support can prevent the escalation of mental health issues, reducing the risk of more severe disorders or crises. 5. Reduction in Self-harm and Suicidality: Support structures, especially during vulnerable periods, can drastically reduce instances of self-harm and suicidal thoughts or actions.
Steps to get it done:
70,770 adults are on waiting lists, and 12,845 patients had treatments closed without even receiving an appointment. We can help. Donating to Mental Health Charities: Anxious Minds provide resources, counselling, and support to those struggling with mental health, especially during the holidays. A financial contribution, no matter the size, can help us reach out to more individuals in need. Every £25 made will pay for counselling Every £50 will pay for a friendship group Every £100 will cover the cost of Christmas dinner for 12 lonely people in our centre
