The idea
The Project will be aimed at encouraging people to become emotionally and physically healthy, to promote physical activity, sport and exercise to create a feeling of physical, emotional and psychological wellness. The project will help to develop a sense of wellbeing, encouraging self-confidence, self-esteem and allowing people to feel good. As well as providing a range of gym equipment for people on their doorsteps, we will have a personal trainer, qualified mental health first aiders and gym instructors on the project.
What we'll deliver
- Purchase state of the art gym equipment
- Open a health and wellbeing project for local people
Why it's a great idea
With very few local facilities for people to get fit and healthy, a reasonably priced, friendly gym alongside a holistic health and wellbeing project with suitably qualified staff will help
young people and adults to have improved physical and emotional health and wellbeing. As well as encouraging and improving self-esteem, self-confidence and raised aspirations, through taking part in physical activity and mindfulness/mediation classes in the gym. The local community will become better educated on healthy lifestyles and enabled to make informed decisions and choices regarding their health. We also will encourage improved community spirit, community cohesion, and reduction in isolation through our community projects and working with different generations.
Steps to get it done
- getting funding in place to build an extension/Purchase a temporary building
- buy gym equipment
- Install gym equipment
- Introduce a membership system
- train/refresh staff (We already have gym instructors and a PT employed)
- open gym to the public
We have completed a first stage proposal to Sport England to fund the physical extension for the gym (which is not part of this crowdfunding project). We hope this crowdfunding project will fund the equipment we need for the gym. We have already applied for planning for the extension, which has been agreed in principle and are awaiting a decision from Sport England.
