The idea
Majestic's Mission want to put on a production of Peter Pan Jr. We will hire teachers and use resources from the Majestic Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA). Hiring a space at Upton-by-Chester High School, our cast of around 40 Northwest and North Wales students will rehearsal for performances at The Storyhouse Theatre in March 2023.
This is our first production of this sort. We have invited non-MAPA students who needed to audition to participate for this semi-professional performance. Renting out the local professional theatre, we aim to give these students a top-notch experience on a professional stage that will fill them with pride and memories they will never forget.
What we'll deliver
- Hire seamstress and pay for costume materials
- Hire set builders and materials
- Hire more teachers and assistants
Why it's a great idea
Our impact will be seen by creating an all-inclusive space for students, where they can feel free to express who they are without judgment. In turn, this will increase confidence, teach independence, and provide a safe space for marginalised students. We’d measure this by the happiness of our students, how much they care about each other, and the uplifting environment we hope to create.
While enriching our culture, the performing arts are crucial because they help to create bridges for people to connect and communicate. They help people see eye-to-eye, can help us understand one another, and allows us express our emotions. All of these aspects will positively affect our students.
