The idea
Fulwood Amateurs Football Club has been in existence since 1924
Over the past 5 years we have embarked on an ambition plan to reach out to the community with the purpose of creating a sporting hub for people of all ages to enjoy not only football but sporting and healthy living activities.
We have invested a significant amount of time and resources into the development of our facility that have included:
New club house
Changing rooms
Pitch drainage and maintenance
All of the above has been carried out through generous support of sponsors and local volunteers.
Through this investment we now operate 12 teams from ages 11 upwards, 8 junior, 4 senior.
To make the next step we want to expand our provision to include evening activities and need to install floodlights so that the facility can be used for extended hours-winter times training and activities cannot take place and outside of this time.
What we'll deliver
- Purchase floodlights
- Install floodlights
- Hold sport sessions in the evenings
Why it's a great idea
The benefits of playing sport are well established, as is the recognition that football is more than a game of 22 players; Football can and does act as a catalyst for change and community involvement of all.
The project will get more people involved in positive, healthy activities.
For young people it will create an alternative to anti-social behaviour that takes place in the area.
For women and girls it will expand the opportunity to get involved in football.
For older people, a reason to get out of the house, do something healthy, thus help address the numerous physical and mental health issues that can affect the older generation
Steps to get it done
- Purchase of Floodlights
- Installation of floodlights
- New opportunities are promoted
- Coaches and volunteers are recruited and trained
- Opportunities begin
- Minimum of 30 new participants are involved by end of year
We have secured quotes for the purchase and installation of floodlights of £41,600
This development would enable us to fulfil our overall aim which is to make access to sporting facilities and activities accessible to all.
We would be targeting numerous groups that include:
• Local youth-we have incidence of anti-social behaviour which we firmly believe can be eradicated by giving the young people access to positive activities.
• Women and Girls-we have some girls teams but want to expand our provision
• Older people-we want to be able to offer sporting opportunities such as walking football
This initiative is conducive with our inclusivity aims, to offer the playing of sport to all.
