The idea
Poprs is a well known organisation for bringing the people of Pelsall an act of remembrance. Taking it to the next level we want to invest further into the Village at key strategic places with uplighters that will pick out architectural detail and natural environment. At key times during the year we will use colour to reflect both seasons and festivals and celebrate the diverse community of Pelsall. For example we will show yellow for Easter, Red for remembrance, White for Diwali and multicolour for Christmas.
The first phase of this project will allow us to install 9 uplighters focusing on The Clock and Cenotaph with a further 2 phases to follow.
What we'll deliver
- Purchase and install lights
- Deliver a lighting up ceremony
- Schedule a timetable of when lights will be operated and displayed
Why it's a great idea
The main benefit of this project will be bringing the community together and creating a further sense of pride within the Village.
Aligning the display to key events will draw attention and highlight key charities or festivals i.e Pink for Breast Cancer Prevention week and Yellow for Marie Curi Awareness month.
This project will bring people into Pelsall from throughout the Borough and wider.
Each time the lights change and are switched on it creates the opportunity for Charities and Organisations to create community days and events. We then hope this will reduce social isolation by encouraging people to come together and socialise within the Village.
Steps to get it done
- Getting the ground works done
- running cable for the uplighters
- Wire in the uplighters
- have a official switch on for all the village to come and see what has been achieved
The Preservation of Pelsall Remembrance Service has now safeguarded the remembrance service in Pelsall for years to come. We have now changed our constitution which means we can invest time and money in other projects in the Village.
