The idea
Kickstart Health Initiative provides various ways to keep children and young people aged 4 to 14 years engaged after school and during school holidays. However most of these sessions are spent outside with no permanent place or have to be cancelled last minute as facilities are unavailable.
Our project is essential in order to reduce obesity in children and young people, create platforms to build adventurous and confident individuals, while keeping them off the streets.
Within the community roughly 50 children have registered to Kickstart Health Initiative. We have various activities from trips to sports to games and would like to take further trips as many children have not left their surroundings. To round up our year we always close with an achievement awards celebration.
We have been running on personal funds and are no longer able to provide this service to the children. We have been left with no option but to discontinue the services if funding cannot be provided.

Provide consistent space during all weathers.
Reduce the chances of obesity through sports and exercise.
Allowing children and young people to create better relationships with others within the community.
Keeping children and young people busy during out of school hours in order to keep them off the streets.
Giving children a safe place to communicate their thoughts and ideas.
Relaying children's thoughts and ideas to their parents and carers so they are kept informed.
Enabling children to visit places as some have never left Southwark.
Celebrating each other and their accomplishments at the achievement awards.
Raising standards among our children to thrive for the best they can be.

We have tried asking parents for payment, however from feedback we quickly realised many children would no longer attend Kickstart Health Initiative.
Kickstart Health Initiative is open to creating various opportunities for children and young people. It could be something such as painting, planting or a class on making things, nothing is too small.
