What we'll deliver

  • Take 30 young people on a 3 night residential

Why it's a great idea

Our project benefits Kent's young people by providing a break from their challenges at home, fostering resilience and achievement through outdoor activities like climbing and water sports. These adventures facilitate personal growth, teaching vital life skills like teamwork and leadership while forming lasting friendships and support networks.

Additionally, it promotes positive mental well-being, relieving everyday stresses and instilling joy and accomplishment. By exposing young people to new environments and challenges, it encourages self-discovery, unveiling hidden talents and passions.

Ultimately, investing in youth empowerment today means investing in the future of our community. With newfound confidence and skills, these young people can make meaningful contributions to Kent. In summary, our project offers benefits in personal development, mental well-being, and social impact, ensuring a brighter future for the Kent community.

Steps to get it done

  • Inviting the young people
  • Trip planning
  • Our time at PGL
  • Feedback and story of trip
  • Impact report

"I remember when I went on my first residential I was really nervous at first but when with some encouragement from the staff I started to do the activities and I really started to enjoy myself. I knew that these activities were something I would never normally do because of cost, and fear (mostly of heights) it allowed me to face my fears head on!

One activity that I loved the most is the 3G swing as it is just an amazing experience! It is a big swing thing, you sit in like a harness and are lifted by your team using pulling ropes, you stop at the height you feel most comfortable with, you then pull a piece of rope that releases you to just swing! At first it does scare you but when you’re swinging it’s just an amazing experience!

When you go away it allows you to have a bit more freedom and forget about school and the stresses of school. It's like a break away from the stresses of life, it allows you to meet new people and face your fears together and encourage each other."
