The idea
To purchase and install 5 state of the art pieces of outdoor equipment which can be used at any time 24/7. The facilities include equipment that will charge ones mobile phone by generating electricity. Maintenance costs are low and the equipment is guaranteed for 25 years.
There would be 5 units of equipment providing 7 exercise stations so alternating rest and exercise, the equipment could accommodate 14 people at any one time.
What we'll deliver
- The community demonstrated the need following a questionnaire
- The Village Hall has FIT status meaning the all facilities have to be available in perpetuity
- It will provide new opportunities for the young as well as the older generation
- OUr consultant has negociated a discount of 30% off the list price of the equipment
Why it's a great idea
The Village Hall committee sent a questionnaire to the whole community and the responses clearer demonstrated the need for more facilities to be introduced so as to encourage every one to make better use of the hall and grounds as well as improving health and fitness. The nearest gym is some 5 miles away and difficult for youngsters to get to. We only have one bus service each week to Midhurst. At the other end of the scale older parishioners may not have a car or are unable to drive.
Steps to get it done
- The grounds have FIT status which means that they will remain in perpertuity
- We have already been offered a grant of £4k by The Grange
- Maintenance costs are £750 pa which will be paid by The Village Hall
- The spec has been produced by Dan Law with 20 year's experience in setting up gyms
The Village Hall & Grounds are the hub of the community. Football, cricket, stool ball, croquet are all played here.
