We are seeking to significantly improve ground facilities at our club, in order to start new Under 10's and Under 11's team and enhance the experience for our junior and senior teams. We're a village cricket club who provide the full range of opportunities for local people from introducing them to the game as juniors to providing the highest available standard of adult cricket to our seniors. Our 1st team first team play in the Premier Division of the Palace Shield while, at the other end of the scale, we have 50 boys and girls aged 5 to 9 getting their first introduction to the game and a further 30 juniors aged 12 to 18 in our junior teams. We are seeking to purchase new covers for our ground, a new digital scoreboard, a waterbow machine and a new net for our practice cage. This will reduce the number of games called off due to bad weather and allow us to provide more fixtures and practice facilities for our new Under teams

What we'll deliver:

  • Improve cover facilities so less games are cancelled
  • Provide a new, modern, digital scoreboard
  • Provide a new net to enhance practice facilities
  • Invest in important maintenance for our clubhouse

Why it's a great idea:

We will provide significantly enhanced cricket facilities that will allow us to extend our coaching programme to provide a new Under 11's team in our club. This is an important development for us as currently we don't have a link between our Under 9's softball programme and our existing Under 13's team. We are a rural village with a population of 4,500. There are no other sports clubs in the village and as such the club plays a key role as a hub for the village. Through our project we will provide new covers and a waterbow machine for the ground. This will ensure that the ground is better protected and will allow more games to take place. This is particularly important in ensuring our new teams are able to play. Investment in a new digital scoreboard will also provide an engaging new facility for young people. A new net for our practice cage will improve our coaching facilities. Finally we will invest in our pavillion building which is nearly 30 years old and requires maintenance

Steps to get it done:

  • Confirm funding is available for total project cost
  • Get (formal) estimates from suppliers
  • Place PO on selected suppliers
  • Agree date to start work
  • Work completed
