The idea
We've been working hard to secure and build a much needed community space in the heart of Hastings and now we need your help to open before the summer.
Home Ground is a neighbourhood kitchen and canteen where people can come together, develop new skills, improve their health and enjoy great food.
We have fantastic projects planned over the coming months including a cooking skill share with refugees, classes for local children, and some exciting supper clubs but sadly our funding has fallen through due to the whole EU-UK limbo so we're looking for help with our final push.
Rewards to say thanks:
£15: Home Ground Tea Towel
£20: Tickets launch with guest chef
£50: 1 ticket to 2 Hour cooking class
£100: 2 tickets to Home Ground Supper club
£200: 4 tickets to 1/2 day cooking class
What we'll deliver
- A modern and safe community kitchen
- Training facilities to give opportunities to local people
- A welcoming and flexible canteen area serving wholesome food daily
- A much needed central hub with a variety of activities and income generating facilities
- Mentoring and support to small food businesses and makers
- Reducing kitchen waste wherever we can such as our submerged composter
- A quality venue for a range of events including birthdays, launch parties and screenings
Why it's a great idea
Founders Kate and Sav have been running successful cooking classes in Hastings and know how, life changing and inspiring cooking can be. At the moment Hastings is lacking a quality space for cooking classes and amazing people working hard for the love of good food don't have access to a kitchen that could help spread their magic further in our town.
We want to create a vibrant space for the whole town.
Anyone who loves to eat will benefit from Home Ground Kitchen. Every day we will be shaking up lunch time with delicious wholesome bowl foods. We'll also be working with exciting chefs to run supper clubs, events and specialist cooking classes.
We are fully committed to helping those who may have not had access to cooking classes or training schemes and help them develop skills that can benefit their health and finances. We want to help people build their knowledge, confidence, employability to pursue careers and start their own food businesses.
