The idea
Holiday Family Fundays at Al Hikmah Sports and Community Centre aim to create memorable experiences while fostering community connections. We trialled 2 of these with support from the Community Plus Team and IMWS on a smaller scale in October Half Term and the Christmas Break and both were very well attended.
Families wanted more of these so we want to deliver them to include sports to promote physical health, themed storytelling sessions, and creative craft workshops. This initiative is designed to bring families together in an inclusive space where children can enjoy enriching activities like a mini zoo and outdoor play area, while young adults explore entrepreneurial skills. The events also provide opportunities for volunteers to gain valuable experience and contribute to fundraising for HappyMOMents classes. By hosting these themed fundays during holidays, the project seeks to support local families, encouraging meaningful engagement with other services and the wider community.
