The idea
Via the BT community fibre project scheme we need to raise the 'gap' in funding that BT consider makes instillation of additional fibre cabinets financially viable. In return OpenReach will install two extra fibre cabinets that will bring fibre broadband to over 150 additional homes and rural businesses. There is no obligation to subscribe to BT after the instillation (but, as normal, subscription to a broadband service provider will be necessary).
What we'll deliver
- Contract with OpenReach to install two additional fibre cabinets
Why it's a great idea
Bringing truly fast broadband to our community will enable our school to use all the latest internet based technology, programs and initiatives and to communicate around the world. Our homes will benefit from broadband speeds sufficient to use internet services where currently we don't have enough speed to stream or download. It will enable local businesses to function in an efficient way, making the most of current technology. The ability to work from home will potentially allows those who can't 'go out' to work greater opportunities and for many people simply achieve a better work life balance, particularly those with young children or those less mobile. And finally, research suggests, super-fast broadband improves the value of your home.
