We have an aging fleet of boats and are in need of constant repair. Our aim is to increase the uptake of rowing by continuing to offer our Free Learn-to-Row courses, which introduce people to rowing, but to do so we need to update some of the equipment that we use as it has become unsuitable due to age and use. We aim to update the indoor rowing equipment, which will allow all ages and abilities to practice indoors during the winter and inclement weather. To increase our community presence we complete litter-picks in the area to prevent unwanted contamination of the environment.

What we'll deliver:

  • Run 4 Free learn-to-Row courses per year.
  • Refurbish a stable 4-person boat
  • Update indoor rowing equioment.

Why it's a great idea:

Increased fitness for all participants Offer volunteering opportunities to interested individuals to help rowers on and off the water, which can also include coaching and maintenance of the grounds and equipment A sense of well-being and inclusion, as rowing is a fun sport, rowers can be mixed with other age groups to learn skills and race at local rowing events or row recreationally. Increase the number of people Rowing in Sunderland Increase teamwork within the group, which can be used further in everyday life.

Steps to get it done:

  • Refurbishing boat
  • Buying equipment to update indoor rowing equipment
