Currently my organisation is in the process of building a number of new buildings for the benefit of our local community. The site incudes a new medical centre, scout hut and village hall and is looking to become a health and wellbeing integrated site. The site also has a number of areas of green space that we would like to use funding to encourage people to access to be healthier at an affordable cost. This will include play equipment for young people, Play equipment for people with access issues such as disabilities and also areas for peace and quiet allowing the site to truly encourage people to benefit from health and wellbeing opportunities. This opportunity will allow people accessing the site to not only receive medical treatment but also to access a number of solutions to help them improve and manage their conditions and ultimately prevent conditions occuring. We want the site to be a holistic area that supports people to live healthier.
What we'll deliver:
- A great space for young people and families to play
- play equipment of young people
- Outdoor gym equipment to engage older childen and adults
- Electric charging points to encourage greener travel
Why it's a great idea:
The project has the potential to help the whole life cycle to lead healthier lives. The aim is to encourage people to access the site to socialise, move more, eat better and lead healthier lives. It is hoped that access to equipment that encourages activity will boost individuals mood whilst helping people manage a healthy weight. The site is also looking to include charging points to encourage green travel to help the site move towards carbon neutral.
Steps to get it done:
- Purchasing the new equipment
- designing the walking path for the new site
- siting the new play equipment
- sourcing the contractor for the new pathway
- Source quote for outdoor gym equipment
- planning permission for outdoor gym
- contractor to complete works
