Giving for Gedling Food Bank Appeal

We're crowdfunding to support vulnerable people in the borough through the COVID-19 crisis by keeping our Food Banks stocked. We can get through this if we pull together.

The idea

The Mayor of Gedling Borough Council, Cllr Sandra Barnes has launched the ‘Giving for Gedling Food Bank Appeal’ to support our most vulnerable residents during the Coronavirus outbreak.

We’ve been inspired by the response from residents and know that many of you want to help. We’ve created a crowdfunding project so that residents and businesses whose circumstances allow, can donate to provide additional community support for those who are most in need.

All Gedling Borough Councillors have kick started the fund by each pledging £250 from their Councillor Community Grants Fund, giving a total of £10,250, but we are asking you to help us match that amount and raise a further £10,000 and help us reach our target of £20,000.

All donations will either be given directly to registered food banks who support residents across the borough, or be used by Gedling Borough Council to purchase food and essential items for distribution to those food banks or directly to residents in need.

What we'll deliver

  • Support for Bethesda Ministries Food Bank (Netherfield)
  • Support for Trussell Trust Food Bank (Carlton)
  • Support for Daybrook Baptist Church Food Bank (Arnold)
  • Support for Phoenix Farm Food Bank (Gedling)

Why it's a great idea

The food banks provide an essential service to those most in need of support in our community. This project is so important because it will help them at a time when they are seeing huge demand with a reduction in supplies.

Steps to get it done

  • Purchase food and supplies for food banks in the borough
