The idea

Bowland High PTFA supports Bowland High, a small rural secondary school serving families across the Ribble Valley and surrounding villages. As a rural school, we are more than just a place of learning – we are a central hub for our wider community.

Our PTFA is made up of dedicated parents, carers, staff and local residents who are passionate about creating opportunities for young people and ensuring our school facilities benefit the whole area. We are seeking funding to improve and expand our community sports facilities offer so that students have access to safe, modern sporting provisions. We want more local clubs and community groups to use the facilities all year-round. We want families in our rural area to be able to access affordable physical activity close to home.

What we'll deliver

  • New Nets and Goal Posts for 3G field for school and community use

Why it's a great idea

Living in a rural area has many benefits — but access to sport and recreation can be limited. Many families must travel significant distances to reach leisure centres or organised activities.
By improving our facilities at Bowland High, we will, increase physical activity for young people, support mental health and wellbeing, provide inclusive sport opportunities regardless of income, reduce travel barriers for rural families and vreate a shared space for the whole community.

Our facilities are already used by local football teams ( Clitheroe Wolves), youth groups and fitness clubs and with further investment, we can offer this to more groups benefitting more people.
600+ Bowland High students will benefit, local primary schools for festivals & tournaments, grassroots sports clubs, community fitness groups & families across the Ribble Valley. In rural communities, school facilities often are the community facilities. Your support helps secure this vital local asset for years to come.
