Our vision is for a Chester community in which no one experiences hunger or social isolation. We envision a future filled with hope, where everyone has access to nourishing food and meaningful community connections, promoting a strong sense of belonging and well-being. We aim is to be a place of connection and support for people in need across the Chester Community, specifically focusing on providing practical help to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Partnering with like-minded organizations, businesses, and community members, in a spirit of goodwill, cooperation, and trust, we aim to challenge the root causes of food poverty, develop innovative solutions, and create lasting positive social impact. Through the community hub, we supply emergency food parcels and affordable food through our Greenway Grocer project. Our desire is to food to those in urgent need, support people on pathways out of poverty, promoting wholistic wellbeing and combat loneliness.

What we'll deliver:

  • A 3rd session where we are open
  • A sessional assistant to support the volunteers
  • Wrap around services where we sign post vulnerable individuals and families to our partner organisations
  • Volunteer opportunities for local residents to help support their community
  • Bespoke emergency food parcels that feed individuals and families
  • A place of welcome and community connection with hospitality and food at the heart
  • Debt Advice Sessions
  • Develop the kitchen so we can prepare meals
  • A small raised bed area for growing fruit and veg

Why it's a great idea:

Developing the Community Hub will provide a safe and welcoming environment for the local community to use as well as accessing the food provision. We shall use hospitality and food to develop community with some cooking opportunities for residents to learn new skills. We shall offer debt advice alongside some sessions. The Greenway Grocer will develop the growing of our own fruit and veg as well engage with our local school to offer healthy affordable food.

Steps to get it done:

  • The opening of a 3rd session for the community cafe
  • Delivering some sessions with Debt Advice
  • Develop the kitchen to enable some cooking to take place
  • Have 2 raised beds to grow fruit and veg
