The idea
A Cut and Collect grass mower will enable us to establish an Eynsham Parish grounds maintenance team. Cut and collect is critical for wildflower meadow maintenance and also for good amenity grass cutting.
What we'll deliver
- Purchase of a Cut and Collect Grass Mower
- Creation of grass composting locations across the village
- Expansion of the Parish Council team to provide capacity to operate the mower
Why it's a great idea
The benefits are;
- We'll reduce our dependency on 3rd party contractors. A locally operated team will be more focussed on quality and will have vested interest in ensuring the village looks its best. We'll also save cost
- The mower will help further enhance biodiversity through maintenance of the wildflower meadows in the village as well as giving us the capacity to tend more wildflower areas
- The cut and collect function will allow us to reduce fertility of areas currently too fertile to support wildflowers
- We'll be able to further collaborate with our Nature Recovery Network, as many projects require grass mowing as part of the initial grounds preparation work.
- The cuttings will be composted in village reducing waste, mess and transport
