The idea
The money raised from this project fund will be used to replace the revenue we would have had from the cricket season to get through the current situation and be ready to provide cricket to the community once it it safe to return.
Left unmaintained the ground will become wild and overrun as it needs to be tended to all year round. Insurances, fuel and utilities all still need to be paid despite having no other revenue stream with the season suspended. Machinery needed to be serviced and raw materials needed to produce a cricket ground are all expensive and need to be used once purchased.

Why it's a great idea
Why save Earlestown CC? Formed in 1882 its imperative we protect our heritage and keep the club going, providing cricket, club membership and we continue the improvements we have been making in recent years. In the local community we support schools and other charitable organisations and its our desire to play a pivotal role in our community with foodbanks and social opportunity.

Despite having no cricket at the moment we are still keeping in touch with everyone and volunteering when we can at the club. The lockdown has been difficult for everyone but with guidelines set by the ECB and a weekly club rota we have been able to help some of our membership get some exercise by working during the recent good weather, providing them with access to our ground to help them manage their mental health and still feel part of something. Earlestown CC was formed in 1882 and has faced many challenges over the years but the challenge to survive during the Covid-19 crisis is potentially our biggest yet. In recent years we have made huge progress, improving every year and its devastating to lose that momentum.The current pandemic has put the club at risk as, like many other sports, we have lost the crucial inflow of funds that we generate through the short summer season. The anticipated loss of thousands of pounds this year will challenge our ability to continue.
