The idea
Imagine being able to enrich your community by highlighting the cultural significance of its rich heritage? Doncaster boasts fascinating stories of many inspirational women who campaigned bravely for women's votes.
Sadly, the names of these women are largely forgotten and so are their stories. By funding this plaque, XP & XPE students are hoping to make sure we can properly recognise the courage and compassion shown by these amazing Doncastrian women over 100 years ago.
From September to December, all year 8 students at XP & XP East school will be completing a learning expedition called 'Fight the Power!' During this time, all of their learning in each of their subjects will be focused around the theme of rebellion.
Part of their learning is helping to fund this project and give something back to the community. Their studies in each of their subjects will help them reach out and raise awareness of this important cause, gaining support where it matters most: the community - YOU!
What we'll deliver
- Commemorative Plaque
Why it's a great idea
For too long the incredibly courageous and compassionate Doncastrian suffragettes have been forgotten. This plaque will help to recognise Doncaster's rich culture and heritage: it will be an opportunity to showcase to the community and beyond why Doncaster is one of the greatest places on Earth!
The students at XP School & XP East believe that people in our community should remember the rebel daughters of Doncaster who campaigned to make the UK a better place for all. Our year eights want to make this happen to show the pride that they have for Doncaster, and they want to share this pride with everyone in our community too.
By helping to commemorate Doncaster's suffragettes by funding this plaque, you will be highlighting what makes our town matter -- you will be able to put your mark on the city that you love (almost literally!)
