We see language learning as being about cultural exchange, community building, and a way for people to reconnect with their/our heritage.
In our classes, we talk about topics relevant to our students’ daily lives.
We operate an open-door policy. We apply Participatory ESOL methods and principles across all our classes, and we run as a democratic community of learners, where students are actively involved in shaping the learning process.
We recognise that English proficiency is critical to a new life in the UK and appreciate the fact that many refugees and asylum seekers undergo great upheaval and often trauma.
We also appreciate that many students are waiting for college courses, so we teach anyone wanting to improve their language skills. In so, English For All takes a person-centred approach, focused on helping individuals rediscover themselves and develop the strategies to live meaningful lives. Our work comprises two core offerings; English language classes and peer-to-peer support.
Our English language classes and conversation sessions cater to all levels and needs, from complete beginners, through to tailored support that enables our students to return to their former careers.
We bridge the gap between arrival in the UK and access to formal study. We utilise an open-to-all, informal and flexible format that adapts to the needs of our students by focusing on their individual requirements, providing a format that complements traditional exam-based programmes.
Our physical classes are held at DiverCity Hub in Newcastle twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. We also offer six online classes each week via Zoom, allowing us to support students throughout the whole of the UK. As well as holistic 1-1 online support. Classes are year-round, enabling students to fully maximise learning time.
Our peer-led volunteering and mentoring programme has been designed to boost students’ employability. Harnessing their existing skills and knowledge, students work together, with support from English For All UK, to run projects that provide them with valuable experience to help kick-start their new life.
We recognise the need for digital inclusion and would love continue our offer of accessible online classes and 1 to 1 support.
