The idea
Corvines, Jays help regenerate forests by planting caches of Acorns, They are observed to increase this activity after forest fires.
Cacophany Arkestra want to work with community groups in Lytham, Warton, Preston to create a Caribbean Carnival, costumed series of street theatre inspired musical performances, that explore how Corvines preserve, sustain their environment by caching acorns. We want to: make crow costumes, co-write street theatre.
Cacophany Arkestra a Preston based Carnival arts /music collective have 30 years experience developing Caribbean Carnival arts/music projects. CA have since 2014 toured regionally, developing co-created Carnival arts projects within their community.
Workshops will involve community groups based in Lytham, Warton Preston and focus on co-creating a song based narrative to be performed in costumes at a series of local events in 2026.
Groups will get the opportunity to write songs, learn musical skills, make costumes & perform on the road at events.

Why it's a great idea
The project will bring cultural activities Carnival costume making, Song and playwriting, music development, performance opportunities to: Lytham Community theatre members- working at the Lowther in Lytham. who will co-develop performances at the Lowther
StreetWise Warton Youth & Baby & Toddler groups- developing costumes & performances for Warton Carnival.
A group of older Preston based community musicians- who will develop musical skills to accompany group performances.
A group of older Preston based carnivalists who will help create costumes.
Performances of Crow and the Oak Tree will happen at a series of planned regional events including ; Preston Caribbean Carnival, Lancashire Encounter, Preesall and Knot End & Warton Galas, Prestwich, Radcliffe Carnivals and theatrical performances at Lowther Theatre Lytham.
The estimated total audience numbers at Lancashire events 100 000 plus.
