The idea
Our creative programme is made up of four year-round projects that support young talent across film and music: Be My Band (band creation and performance), Stereo Press (event management), Bunker Sessions (recording and production), and Make Your Cut (filmmaking). Aimed at ages 10 to 18, these projects provide up to 70 young people each year with expert-led, bespoke arts training. In a rural area with limited cultural infrastructure and transport links, our programme ensures that high-quality creative opportunities are accessible locally. Our work empowers participants to develop their skills and talents, build confidence, find community, and envision a meaningful future in the arts. To remove financial barriers, most costs of our young creatives programme are fully covered by The Grand.
What we'll deliver
- 2 different gigs held to support 'Be My Band' bands
- 1 filmscreening of the 'Make Your Cut' projects
- 1 music event ran by the 'Stereo Press' team
Why it's a great idea
Our projects create meaningful cultural opportunities in Clitheroe, giving young people the chance to benefit from high-quality arts training without needing to travel to urban centres. By offering expert-led programmes in music, film, and live events, we open the door for local talent to grow right here at home. For many participants, this is their first step into the creative industries, benefiting their skills and ambition in a supportive, familiar setting. The benefits extend beyond individuals: performances and film viewings bring families and communities together, strengthening pride and connection through shared creative achievements. These programmes show that a future in the arts is possible without leaving the area, helping to retain talent, raise aspirations, and build a stronger cultural identity in the Ribble Valley. Over time, this investment in young people benefits the whole community, leading to a more vibrant, connected, and creative hometown for everyone.
