The idea
Our plan is to install a Christmas tree on the area adjacent to the Lane Head War Memorial so that it is seen by all as they enter via High Road. The second tree will be positioned in the area of The Square by the shops.
We want to install decorative Christmas lights on the lampposts along High Road in Lane Head up to the bridge, on the island by The Amery club, the island on the Lichfield Road ( formerly The Gate ) and also at the shops in The Square.
What we'll deliver
- Purchase and install Christmas lights and trees
Why it's a great idea
We believe that the installation of the Christmas decorations will provide both a mental and a physical boost to the residents and visitors in our area. Our aim is to create a real Christmas theme with lights along the street which will compliment the planned Christmas Fayre at The Royal British Legion club. We will actively encourage people to walk the route by adding QR codes onto lampposts for the public to use as they make their way to the Fayre. During the planning for Her Majesty's Jubilee we installed Union flags on the lampposts, they were greatly received by many residents to our area. the boost to all was truly amazing and we feel that this plan will provide similar benefits to all.
Steps to get it done
- To carry out testing to the lampposts in question to ensure their suitability to fit Christmas lights.
Our long term plan would be to increase the number of lights installed over a number of years and if we are really successful it could prompt visitors to our area to see them also helping local trade as visitors eat or drink in our local establishments.
