The idea
Set on our community allotment, Breathe and Bloom will provide a safe and nurturing space for women experiencing poor mental health to find calm, healing and connection with nature and each other.
A workshop shed will enable the group to use the space year round and take part in activities such as natural crafting and woodwork - ultimately becoming a "Women's Shed" where they may eventually be able to generate income for the project through items they make and grow.
We have secured half of the cost of the shed through external funders and are seeking donations to meet the shortfall.
Kent High Weald Partnership and volunteers will build the shed and turn it into a useful and attractive workspace for the group.
What we'll deliver
- Purchase and install a workshop shed for Breathe and Bloom
Why it's a great idea
This project provides people suffering with poor mental health with long term and regular support in a safe and nurturing space where they have the opportunity to learn new skills, be creative, connect with others, and feel part of a community.
The workshop shed will enable activities to take place year round and widen the range of activities that they can enjoy and learn from such as woodwork and natural crafting. This will also provide an opportunity for the allotment group to become more self sustainable through opportunities to generate income such as product sales and workshop based events.
Steps to get it done
- Purchasing the shed.
