The idea

The project will be for the Blackpool Symphony Orchestra (BSO) to stage a concert for the people of Lancashire at well known school in Lytham St Annes on 1st July 2023. The concert will feature a range of 'classical' orchestral music and an international professional soloist will also perform. The concert will be ticketed but open to everyone and we particularly encourage young people to attend by providing free- tickets to under 19s.

What we'll deliver

  • A local orchestra made of established and up-coming players and young people playing music for local people
  • An opportunity for local people to hear an international soloist on his first visit to the Fylde

Why it's a great idea

Musical education and culture are very much part of the ethos of the BSO as evidenced by our work with local schools and performances in the community.

At a time when no professional orchestras perform anywhere on the Fylde coast, our concerts provide a rare opportunity for the people of Lancashire to hear a full symphony orchestra and learn more about a wide range of music available. Our concerts bring great pleasure to the Lancashire public at large and provide new and established audiences with an opportunity to hear music they may not otherwise have access to.

BSO also have a great following from the youth of Lancashire who are looking to advance their musical education and see the BSO as a vehicle for achieving this.
