A one day music event linking into the Lancs Encounter Festival showcasing some of the best original bands and singer-songwriters from around Lancashire.
The Lancs Encounter Festival is an established arts and culture festival in Preston designed to bring the best and most diverse acts and participatory artistic activities together each year for an immersive weekend of culture. The ‘Best of Preston’ events of 2022 and 2023 contributed a variety of live, original, local music and spoken word to the Lancs Encounter events. The Best of Lancashire all-dayer on September 22nd 2024 will develop on the Best of Preston concept and focus on the best quality original indie bands and singer-songwriters from around Lancashire. It will be another free event under the incredible Victorian Market canopies which are ideal for outdoor, weather-proof events.

Why it's a great idea:
The Best of Lancashire will bring a vital ingredient to the Lancs Encounter festival. Grassroots indie music is underfunded and neglected on the arts and culture scene and this project will profile some of the best young acts in the county. The influx of live music fans will support nearby local businesses on a normally quieter Sunday shopping day.

A huge thank you to everyone who backed this project! Especially the main sponsors, Lancashire County Council through the Culture and Sport fund, Preston Council, McCrerie Guitars and 3507 Studio. We are going to have a fantastic day on September 22nd and close the 2024 Encounter festival with a host of original live music from all over Lancashire under the incredible Victorian Preston Market canopies. VolunteerI am a local musician and organiser of music events and activities. I run a very popular, weekly open mic night at the Guild Ale House and lead the Preston Ukulele Strummers who have performed at festivals in the UK and Europe. In 2022 I created the Best of Preston events at Preston Market and delivered these through the summer of 2023, where a total of 40 local artists received paid performances. I have recently recorded and released my first original songs.
