The idea

After the success of launching Inspiration Arts last year, we need your support to continue our journey. Unfortunately, after losing our creative space we have been unable to apply for Arts Council funding. With community backing, we can get our troupe back on the road and creating again.

Throughout April and May, we will host family-friendly workshops focused on sustainable costume-making, alongside dance and movement sessions to prepare for carnival performances. Our workshops champion eco-conscious design, using recycled and responsibly sourced materials while teaching valuable creative skills.

This year our town, Northampton is hosting the EMCCAN King and Queens show, and we aim to design and produce a spectacular Queen costume to proudly represent our community. Your support will help cover materials, space hire, and workshop delivery, ensuring carnival, creativity, and sustainability continue to thrive locally.

What we'll deliver

  • Deliver up to 10 workshops
  • Host 2 dance and movement sessions
  • Create 1 large piece, King or Queen to represent IA in the regional show
  • Participation with new costumes and creations in Northampton carnival 2026

Why it's a great idea

Our project creates a safe, welcoming and joyful space where the community can come together through creativity. Whether actively taking part in workshops or simply enjoying the atmosphere, everyone is invited with no pressure — just a sense of belonging. All activities are free and accessible, removing barriers to participation and ensuring families, young people and adults can engage in positive, creative experiences.

We aim to give troupe members pride in representing Northampton, building confidence, teamwork and self-expression. Last year’s participants shared that they felt joy, togetherness, freedom and renewed confidence through being part of Inspiration Arts.

The project also showcases local talent and high-quality carnival design, led by Emma Garofalo, who brings over 25 years of experience. By developing skills, celebrating culture and producing work of a high standard, we aim to raise Northampton’s profile regionally while strengthening community spirit at home.
