A series of arts and wellbeing workshops for families and adults in Sunderland, during the summer holidays and across the winter months in 2024.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
The Art Room would love to run a series of art and wellbeing workshops during the summer holidays and across the winter months to bring some creativity, companionship and fun to local residents, whatever their age. The workshops will be held in a new workshop space in Mackie's corner in the city centre. We will have early years workshops, arts award workshops (enabling young artists to gain a qualification from Trinity College in London), winter wellbeing workshops for adults and teens (after school, evenings and weekends for those long dark nights) in topics such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and specialist mental health art workshops for teens. These workshops will be open to everyone! Some events are for the whole family but many are to encourage people to make new friends, especially teens and older adults. Your support will make sure that these workshops are affordable for everyone to attend.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This project will benefit people from across the Sunderland area. We aim to reach out to local families, families that are new to the area, teenagers, young adults, young parents and older residents. We aim to improve the cities wellbeing by: -Upskilling young people and invest them with cultural capital -Make art inclusive, not exclusive -Give local people confidence to participate in arts activities -Give residents the skills to tackle anxiety through art -Supporting young peoples mental health through arts participation -Helping 50 young people gain a qualification working with Arts Award and Trinity College in London -This project supports the city in its starting well, living well and ageing well agenda and targets.
