The idea
Due to Covid 19, Westbury Cricket club has been unable to run any youth sessions, and to keep the kids involved, we are looking to run sessions at the end of the season , and during the winter. These sessions will be free, and run by specific coaches, to keep the kids interested during the time. If the lockdown allows us to and once the ECB has confirmed, we will look to do a cricket school during the summer holidays.
What we'll deliver
- Hire of Coaches
- Hire of Halls
- equioment (net catching, ball each etc)
Why it's a great idea
We are worried about the loss of youth to cricket, the summer brings them all together and from there the players move up the leagues, some youth will have no cricket for 12 months if we cant keep the age groups together. We would like to individual equipment, like give every one a ball to take home, print out practice sheets etc. We would run a campaign in the papers to get teh youth involved, and not charge, we would look to use school fields, and inside halls.
Steps to get it done
- Giving all kids a ball, and practise guide and no monies involved for them
- keep cricket in thier minds and to get good coaching
- send adults / helpers / parents on coaching courses
