The idea
We are a self funded amateur dramatic society who rely on our member subscriptions and any income generated from our performances to fund our annual outgoings and the costs of the next performance.
The aim of our project is to upgrade our outdated halogen lighting with more flexible LED lighting and the associated control equipment. Our current lighting equipment is almost as old as the society itself, and it is becoming more difficult and costly to find replacement halogen bulbs. This upgrade will not only ensure the reliability of our lighting setup but also significantly reduce our environmental impact. Supporting this project will empower our members to continue to foster a love for theatre and create memorable moments for the audiences in our community.
The project is divided into 4 phases. Phase 1 will cover the cost of the onstage lights and control desk. Phases 2, 3 and 4 cover the costs of the remaining lights needed to provide a full lighting set.
What we'll deliver
- Replacement of outdated lighting fixtures with LED lights
- Updated multifunctional lighting desk
- Enhanced lighting and effects in our productions
Why it's a great idea
-Safer and more efficient environment with reduced energy costs and removal of the risks associated with halogen lighting (heat/fire)
- Lower maintenance costs due to the increased lifespan of LED lights compared to halogen bulbs.
- Increased flexibility for creative lighting designs, enabling diverse and innovative stage effects.
-Skills training for our members on the use of the control equipment, to both set up lights and create lighting effects for production
Steps to get it done
- Replace older fixtures first with 4 short throw Fresnel type LED fixtures and associated equipment
- Purchase control desk to run above
- Purchase 2 long throw profile spotlight LED fixtures with associated equipment
