This project was funded on 30 May 2022!

We want to create an awareness early on about recycling our waste food, putting it back into back into nature first hand with our wormery. This project with enable more children and young people to have a better start in life, to preserve our planet, to create good habits and to learn respect for our planet, early on in life. We want our children to be able use natural materials and enjoy activities such as the mud kitchen, using twigs to write in the mud, play in dens, using nature in a respectful way to learn and explore. We will grow vegetables and learn about how to grow our own produce, care for and eat them. We want to provide an outdoor space for all our children, especially those with special needs to be used everyday, whatever the weather. It will provide a sensory area, musical activities, a calming environment, a reflection area with multi sensory toys and opportunities to grow and develop within the outdoors.

What we'll deliver:

  • An outdoor flooring accessible to play on in all weathers
  • Multi sensory toys to create learning opportunities too benifit all our children
  • Mud kitchen
  • Outdoor covering
  • Wormery

Why it's a great idea:

To develop a garden with sensory areas, to enable all our children to have opportunities to learn hands on about their carbon footprint, creating good habits for their future, connecting with nature. Playing and learning outside improves children’s physical and emotional well-being and the experience has been shown to be hugely beneficial for children with a range of emotional and developmental needs. Children can use natural materials and enjoy activities such as the mud kitchen, using twigs to write in the mud, play in dens, climb over logs, make sounds with bells and chimes. We believe that teaching our children early principles of reducing their own carbon footprint, recycling and using their food waste to directly put back into their community via their wormery will create good habits early on and throughout their lives.

Steps to get it done:

  • Buying mud kitchen
  • Buy suitable outdoor flooring- grips- able to be used in all weathers
  • Buy multi sensory outdoor toys
  • buy wormery

This outdoor area will be accessible to all children of all abilities and backgrounds. We will create opportunities for the children to reduce their carbon footprint, recycling their waste, make produce and learn about preserving our world.
