The idea
The funds will enable the creation & fitting out of a brand new; - Coffee Shop & Community cafe with a garden: Serving great locally roasted coffee & healthy food, hosting workshops for the local community, bringing people together in a hub space, hosting employment training programmes alongside volunteering & work placements, and creating jobs. - Arts & performance space: Hosting a range of arts projects & creative workshops, bringing the community together for performances & creating volunteering placements & jobs. - Recording Studio & Media training suite: Hosting a range of media & creative training & education programmes, providing a space for local people to record music & creating volunteer & work placement opportunities. The space for all of these projects will be provided by Shoreditch Tab church within their brand new building but we have a need to raise funds to purchase the materials and equipment for each of these elements of the project.

Why it's a great idea
Whilst there has been a significant amount of regeneration in the local area, there is still a disconnect between the thriving new affluence and the disadvantage that exists in the community. Our project will help to bring the community together and provide healthy food and craft coffee, host community initiatives, provide opportunities to access the arts and provide training and employment opportunities to disadvantaged and disengaged young people. TransformShoreditch will be more than a community centre. It is an ambitious, exciting and bold project with the potential to transform our community Long Term! We have a wonderfully diverse range of people we encourage & support & we want to nurture community & enterprise to bring together the creative excellence in Shoreditch and more disadvantaged members of our community. We want to take this opportunity to utilise this amazing new space to be able to serve the community in the best way possible.
Steps to get it done
- Focussed marketing & PR campaign highlighting the Crowdfunding success & the when the different spaces will open
- Host a series of creative events to further engage our community in the conversation
- Purchase equipment & Fit out recording studio & install
- Purchase equipment & furniture for the coffee shop community cafe & garden & install
- Seek capital funding to realise the project by investing in the infrastructure
- Seek sponsorship from business and empower our local community by asking them to help fund and be part of the project
- Have a pre-opening event for the spaces in the Autumn towards end of campaign
- Once funds are all secured confirm with partners project is definitely going ahead & timescales
- Purchase equipment for arts and performance space & Install
- Purchase equipment for media creative training suite & install & set up
The Coffee shop cafe will be a community social enterprise with a garden & providing healthy food, craft coffee, hosting community initiatives & training & employment opportunities to disadvantaged and disengaged young people. Volunteering opportunities will also be provided for vulnerable and long term unemployed service users. As well as hosting weekly arts workshops covering drama, dance, music and film, the Arts & Performance space will also create a range of training, volunteering, work experience and job opportunities, as local people are engaged to help manage and support various performances and events, including concerts, plays, film screenings & dance shows. The recording studio & creative media suite will enable a range of training & education opportunities. 100% profits from café sales & hiring the performance space will contribute to funding these projects & other social action projects for the community including a youthclub & support for the homeless & elderly.
