The idea
We want to refurbish the youth space at Totteridge Road Baptist Church to create a welcoming, safe and modern environment for young people aged 11–18 in our community. The current space is tired and in need of redecoration, with damaged flooring, walls and ceilings. Our plan includes redecorating the space, repairing and refreshing the room, and replacing old or broken equipment with new items such as a pool table and football table. If funding allows, we will also upgrade the AV equipment with a TV, speakers and a games console.
This improved space will support existing youth groups, including the 11th Enfield Boys’ Brigade, and enable us to run new outreach activities. It will help us engage more young people, offer a fun and safe place to meet, and build stronger community connections. By creating a modern and inviting environment, we aim to encourage positive social interaction and youth development.
What we'll deliver
- Fully redecorated youth space, including repaired & painted walls, flooring, and ceiling.
- New recreational equipment such as a pool table and football table to replace broken items.
- Upgraded AV equipment, including a TV, speakers, and games console (subject to final funding).
- A community launch event to celebrate the reopening and showcase the improved space.
Why it's a great idea
This project will transform a tired and underused youth space into a modern, safe and welcoming community facility. By refurbishing the room and upgrading equipment, we’ll create a vibrant hub that encourages young people aged 11–18 to participate in positive, inclusive activities.
The improved space will support the 11th Enfield Boys’ Brigade and wider youth work at Totteridge Road Baptist Church, enabling outreach days and community events that bring local young people together.
This directly supports NCIL priorities by:
- Improving a valued community facility
- Enhancing opportunities for young people
- Promoting social inclusion and cohesion
- Supporting health and wellbeing through safe social spaces
The refurbished space will help strengthen community resilience, build new partnerships, and create more opportunities for young people to connect, grow, and feel part of their neighbourhood.
