The idea

The number of local people needing us to help them through terminal illness and until the end of their lives, is at an all-time high. Yet given our ageing and growing population, and mounting pressures on NHS services, more people will need Phyllis Tuckwell in future.

The new Hospice will be 40% larger than the old Hospice. Surrounded by beautiful, landscaped gardens, and filled with natural light, it will provide a peaceful sanctuary for adults and children and will contain a host of enhanced facilities.

Our new flagship In-Patient Unit will have 18 specialist bedrooms to care for those with the most intensive medical and nursing needs. Each spacious bedroom will have en-suite facilities that will help maintain dignity and privacy.

We would like to take this opportunity to crowdfund for a contribution towards our flagship IPU en-suites. With the support and backing of this campaign, we shall be able to make this become a reality.

What we'll deliver

  • 28 Clinical basins
  • 18 IPU En-Suite WC's with concealed cisterns
  • 18 IPU Wet room Showers

Why it's a great idea

The private and modern en-suites in our new Hospice will offer numerous benefits that contribute to the comfort, dignity, and wellbeing of our patients, as well as enhance the overall care we are able to provide.

Our en-suites have been specially designed to accommodate various levels of mobility, including features such as handrails, non-slip flooring, and wheelchair-accessible showers. This ensures patients can use the bathroom safely and comfortably, even if they have physical limitations. A private en-suite will also allow our patients to maintain a sense of dignity during their most vulnerable moments. Each en-suite will offer adjustable lighting/temperature control, making care routines less stressful.

Family members often spend extended periods of time with their loved ones our Hospice. Private en-suites provide a comfortable space for visitors to stay with their family member at this critical time, freshen up and take care of their own needs without leaving the facility.
