Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

Having a variety of Skis and boots for people to use is vital to enable particularly new skiers to ski. Technology in Ski and Boot design is moving forward. New Skis have sharper edges, bigger side cuts, more stable construction. Which means you feel more confident, it is easier to turn and stay in control of the ski leading to an enhanced experience. New boots - Fresh padding, are much more comfortable, are stiffer / better flex, maintain a snug fit better, enable you to lean forward in the boots more. Which means you can get on the edge of your skis better, put more power into your skis and hold you edges better ensuring you don't slide. New technology used in Ski boots has been designed specifically with the aim of increasing safety. New Skis and Boots for the skiing public would ensure Pendle Ski Club continues to meet the stringent safety requirements for Ski Equipment into the future. It would also increase comfort which can be a barrier to new and improving skiers.

What we'll deliver:

  • Buy Skis and bindings
  • Buy Boots
  • Train volunteers on fitting and using new skis and boots

Why it's a great idea:

New Skis and Boots not only provide a more comfortable and enjoyable experience but enables progression. Having a more stable platform, greater feedback and more control over the edges of the skis mean you can develop your snow plough, parallel skiing and ultimately carving quicker. Confidence in your equipment boots self confidence and ultimately skiing ability. New skis and boots will benefit all skiers but will make the greatest difference to new skiers / people wanting to try skiing for the first time. To expand our delivery to community groups, schools and charities as well as individuals. It will make training to be a volunteer instructor more accessible as standards required in personal skiing would be more easily achievable. This summer alone we are running SSE Level 1 & 2 Instructor, Performance Coach Level 1 and Youth award Courses. Offering fantastic transferable skills for the workplace. Our passionate campaign that skiing is an amazing weekly hobby for all.

Steps to get it done:

  • Buy skis and bindings
  • Buy boots
  • Attend free training with Rossignol on fitting and use of equipment
  • Having skis used by members of the public

We offer lessons for total novices through to skiers who compete internationally and ensure all participants are given the same high quality experience. We work with DSUK to deliver sessions for disabled skiers. We offer age based and mixed aged lessons so whole families or groups of friends can learn together. Skiing is brilliant for both physical and mental well-being. Skiing at Pendle offers a great opportunity to meet, get to know new people and celebrate each others success in a group setting. While developing and learning new skills at your own pace. Pendle Ski Club has over twenty qualified instructors. We fund training of instructors from the age of 15 upwards and have also supported young people to get their Duke of Edinburgh award. This means we have a great team of volunteer instructors who treat every skier as an individual and adapt numbers to the individuals and conditions. Enjoyment and progression are how we measure success.
