The idea
We want to take the magic of film and filmmaking out into the community. We believe people are desperate to move beyond the restrictions of the past year.
We intend to host screenings of our winning films across the borough as soon as Covid-19 restrictions are relaxed. But a key part of our plan is also to enable people to make their own films.
Anyone with a smartphone has the technology to make a film. But we will provide free workshops and training sessions for new filmmakers, and with this equipment a platform for their films to be seen by others.
What we'll deliver
- Free public screenings of classic films and winners from the Ealing Film Festival
- A quality cinematic experience in any venue
- Provide filmmakers from the area an opportunity for their films to be seen in person
- Help support Ealing’s growing culture and arts community
- Jump start filmmaking and viewing of new films as the pandemic begins to ease
- Bring visitors to Ealing benifiting our local economy.
Why it's a great idea
Filmmakers from across Ealing, London and the UK have an opportunity to have their films screened with care and quality.
The community will benefit from screenings as entertainment for all ages. There is a closeness and a bonding that happens when people view movies together. The shared experience with others is so different than watching at home. The experience is like few others. And even more although the pandemic and restrictions are easing we have all suffered and had huge changes and challenges during this time.
We aim to not only encourage filmmaking but to help the community begin to heal and live vibrantly again. This will be a long process to get back to where we were. We would like to be part of that process by showing films, by inviting filmmakers and directors to cinematic events in Ealing and contributing to the local economy with visitors to our events.
