Building on the success of previous years, ATT will create a new 'arts trail' experience for a target audience of 4000 individuals (children and families). Once again, children will be invited to discover stories, surprises and their own creativity amongst the beautiful green spaces of Whitby Park Plus, a free 'live events' programme for Whitby Park amphitheatre including circus, music, and theatre.

What we'll deliver:

  • An 'arts and adventure trail' experience for children and families
  • A local schools project -supporting them to contribute their own art work to the Park.
  • An accessible 'sensory' experiences of the Trail for children and families who experience disability.
  • Live performance, free for families, in the Whitby Park Amphitheatre

Why it's a great idea:

This activity will reach at least 4000 people in Ellesmere Port during the Summer Holidays. Local people will receive a special opportunity to experience high quality art, within the town park environment which is widely known and loved by all sections of the community. We know from our evaluation of previous years that the benefits to children and families include a sense of wellbeing, fun and connection to nature. We will once again target those families who receive free school meals. Local School will benefit from time with professional artists as they contribute to the trail through in-class activities Children and young people with learning and physical disabilities, will benefit from a bespoke experience designed by specialists to be accessible and inclusive. Our evaluation tells us that families who experience disability need more opportunities like this that provide support and respite. Benefit local and regional artists and provide employment routes into the arts.

Steps to get it done:

  • Artist Recruitment
  • Trail design, development & planning
  • Comms and partnership planning
  • Schools delivery
  • Programme Planning
  • Trail production & implementation
  • Trail Opening
  • Programme Opening
  • Trail & Programme Completion
  • Evaluation

The trail has been hugely successful for the last two years. We are determined to keep it going and keep it free for the people of Ellesmere Port. In 2022 we will link the trail to the opening of Ellesmere Port's brand new cultural centre for children and young people.
