The idea
The 'Valley Community Space' at Dartford Community Rugby Club will provide a much needed external space at our club for community & club events and general use.
The space itself will merge into the existing site layout seamlessly and will include seating, play, grill and eating areas.
Our ever expanding community club requires an external space that encourages social distancing, but keeps people connected and our precious community spirit alive & kicking.
Lastly, we will incorporate a small 'Valley Remembrance Garden' for the club members we lost during the Covid pandemic - including olive trees and benches dedicated to the people we lost, but also for use in the future for remembrance Sunday and other commemorative dates.
What we'll deliver
- Build a large grill / BBQ area for community events incorporating storage space
- Build an outside seating area for community socialising
- Create a remembrance garden for club members lost during Covid pandemic
- Build a play area for our youngest community members
- Build the foundations & drainage for the whole area
- Build an outside food & drink serving area for the community space
- Install lighting & signage for the whole area
- Build an oval seating area for evening socialising
Why it's a great idea
The benefits of providing a purpose-built community space at our facility are wide ranging:
- Socialising - it has never been more important to be able to be together and spend quality time together
- Socially-distanced interaction - Using external space to encourage safe social interaction
- Play - providing a small, safe space as part of the project for our youngest community members to play while mum & dad enjoy some 'downtime'
- Remembrance - Using a small part of the space to remember people we have lost and encourage reflection on those who have sacrificed for us.
- 'More than just the rugby' - Community - a space like this brings people together - it is what out club is all about.
- Fun - a space for laughter, enjoyment and memories - we need that now more than ever.
