Each alleyway will be designed by the Imagine Formby Arts, Culture & Heritage group, in collaboration with local schools and the Formby Civic Society, to transform it, through: - Planting - living walls, pots, troughs and hanging displays - Street art - depicting local history and other local references - Conservation - highlighting iconic features - Lighting - eco-friendly lighting installations that improve safety and the aesthetics of the alleyways - Installing entrance features - archways / trellis / - Naming - creating a cohesive theme and identity We will work with professional and local volunteers to achieve this.

What we'll deliver:

• 2 Alleyways with living wall features, with pots & planters and improved lighting
• 2 Alleyways featuring original wall art and
• 4 Alleyways with combination of feature lighting (festoon
• 2 Alleyways with historic features conserved and highlighted
• We will bring a team together from our local community including volunteers community groups
• We will also work with Stautory and voluntary organisations in the area.

Why it's a great idea:

This project will benefit the local community by providing: - Safer, more appealing passageways - Interest on a local historic and conservation basis - Greener, environmentally friendly spaces - Inspiration and joy through exciting art features - Increased footfall towards local businesses from the community - A destination for tourists who in turn will use local businesses - An opportunity for the community to volunteer, learn new skills and develop a senses of pride of place

Steps to get it done:

• Bring together a team of people to build our project including volunteers and local statutory and voluntary bodies
• Preparation of our first Alleway for a living wall, art work and lighting.
• Work with the community to start the planting and artwork
• complete planting continue with artwork and prepare for lighting
• Complete lighting and Artwork
• Switch on the lights and prepare for opening
• Programme events for opening

The 8 Alleyways project is the first of several projects which will help to preserve Formby Village centre as the beating heart of the town and help local businesses to survive and thrive and improve the environment for residents and visitors alike.
