Our primary aim is to make available in one place diverse range of information that is quick, current, and relevant to the needs of young people in the community. Besides organizing these services of Information, Support work, Advice/Advocacy, Counseling for young people who visits our center. We will also carry out outreach activities to where young people are; particularly the disadvantaged and those unable to come to the center. We are hopeful our efforts will significantly transform the local area, providing not only the youth information service but also serving businesses, schools, parents and families.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The reason the walk-in Youth Information Center is such a great idea is because the idea came from live survey with youths and parents in the community. The youths laid emphases on why some young people are not reaching their potential is because there are no walk-in information center to give them a sense of direction that will make them feel significant. The local youths have voiced their opinion and want a walk-in information center as their top priority. This is an important service for parents, schools, local tourism, cultural activities and holidays etc. This is also good for businesses, schools, employment and families. We aim to give Youths something relevant, informative, quick to deliver and will transform their day to day life. Therefore in order for us to achieve these aims we must raise enough funds!
Steps to get it done:
In this time and age, young people or adults cannot use a service or participate in activity if they do not know it exists. There is a very strong emphasis to reach out to young people through information, it’s expressly accepted knowledge is power. Our idea of a walk-in Youth information center is to provide service that covers all topics that interest young people. This includes local activities, counseling, advising, guiding, supporting, befriending, coaching, training and educational opportunities and networking. The center will be open to all young people without exception, while paying special attention to disadvantaged groups and those with specific needs in East London. The center will serve Local youths, residents and businesses and will benefit from a well organized, human maned center providing wide range of information that is practical, accurate that responds to the needs of young people.
