We want our young people to be part of our community life. We want to encourage them to take an active part in how decisions are made regarding our local area. Firstly we must ensure that they play an active part in the cultural and economic life of our community. One of the ways we can do this is by encouraging their creative talents in e.g. music, song, art and offer them a place to express these in our local area via our festivals and events. Another way is through the development of an incubator service where we offer young people an environment to test their ideas for self employment. Cricklewood Improvement Programme (CIP) was set up a few years ago to support local people to take a lead in how our local community develops over time and we want CIP to be fully represented by our younger generation.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Our idea is great because there is a commitment and ambition to encourage young people in Cricklewood to take an active part in ours and their community, and it will give them a platform to present their talents and skills to a wider audience. We want our young people to stay in the area. By developing this opportunity for talent and jobs we may well achieve this.
Steps to get it done:
CIP are an active community group founded in 2009 by Cricklewood Homeless Concern to work with local residents and business to help make "Cricklewood a fabulous place to be" We have had a number of successes and have a number of projects on the go. We engage with all local businesses and four residents associations. You can find out more about us via www.cricklewoodcip.org and www.cricklewood.net and our facebook page and Twitter. We really want to be able to actively engage with the people who are the future of Cricklewood hence this project.
