Young Ballers aims to ensure young people's mental health through a series of inclusive football activities which allow our small team of dedicated coaches and volunteers to connect young people with additional mentoring and mental health support. In March 2021, after the second lockdown was lifted, Redbridge Community FC was founded. During the first and the second lockdown, many young people suffered from mental health issues and depression, which led, in some cases, to suicide. In a short survey conducted among young people, 82% agreed the lockdown deteriorated their mental health. We aim to work closely with these young people in our community by showing them the positive things life has to offer. After years working with young people and founding 'Save Our Youths UK' we have now decided to design activities and workshops, with additional mental health counselling classes which will work towards reducing local gang violence and knife crime.

What we'll deliver:

  • Sports workshops for up to 200 young people across Ilford Town and surrounding areas
  • Provide trained coaches and mentors who can connect youth people with professional counsellors

Why it's a great idea:

*We are focused on improving the safety of our community - proactively supporting our young people *Helping young people to thrive and see that they are still caring people *Decrease crime rates *Engaging families and the community in upcoming events and projects while knowing their kids are safe.

Steps to get it done:

  • Run a successful crowdfunding campaign
  • Purchase equipment and schedule community workshops
